Donald Trump makes surprise stop at campaign event for former press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders


  • Sarah Huckabee Sanders, whose father Mike Huckabee served as Governor of Arkansas from 1996 to 2007, had announced her campaign in January

  • 'Great weekend on the campaign trail featuring a surprise appearance at one of my events by President Trump!' she tweeted Sunday night

  • It was not immediately clear where and when the fundraising event was held and who else attended

  • On Sunday, she also posted a photo with former Georgia state representative Vernon Jones - an ex-Democrat who has become a vocal Trump supporter

  • Jones was pictured speaking at the campaign event and announced his endorsement of her campaign on Twitter

  • Sanders thanked Jones for his endorsement in a post made to her Instagram

  • Jones' endorsement may prove controversial for Sanders as he addressed crowds before the deadly storming of the United States Capitol on January 6

  • After the riot, Jones thanked 'peaceful Patriots' in a tweet and said: 'we cannot drown out our message with violence'

Sanders, whose father Mike Huckabee served as the 44th Governor of Arkansas from 1996 to 2007, had announced her campaign in January.


'Great weekend on the campaign trail featuring a surprise appearance at one of my events by President Trump!' she tweeted Sunday night with a photo of her and Trump.
